Year

UTOPIA ON THE WAY
Humanistic paths based on cultural diversity to overcome personal and social crises

This Symposium is interested in removing the veil from the structure of the personal and social crisis that the current historical moment is going through. A crisis that causes deep discomfort to individuals and people and is fueled by the accumulation of distorted narratives of a capitalist, individualistic and predatory global system, which imposes its structure based on violence.

On the eve of the 9th International Symposium of the WCHS: “Crisis and Overcoming: Crossing the borders of thought”.

Year

The 9th International Symposium of the World Centre for Humanist Studies (WCHS) will take place the 28th, 29th, and 30th of April. Since the beginning of the WCHS international symposiums, 15 years have passed and the organisational deployment of volunteers around the world to make it happen has multiplied in each edition of the symposium.

9th Symposium of the WCHS. Social ecology axis: Climate and ecological crisis, what boundaries of thought do we need to overcome?

Year

The evident crisis of civilization that humanity is going through, as well as the reality of climate change, place the human species before ecological limits which, if they were to be exceeded, will continue to seriously disturb living conditions throughout the planet. Hence, without a doubt, it deserves deep reflection and action to face the future.

9th Symposium of the World Centre of Humanist Studies Crisis and overcoming: Transcending the frontiers of thinking.

Year

The situation of crisis that humanity is going through at the present time is evident. The crisis manifests itself at different levels and in all spheres of human action, thought and experience. History has recorded numerous crises that endangered the survival of human groups in different times and places, but in this case – as it was the case a few decades ago with the “cold war” – it is a global crisis.

9th HWCS International Symposium: Health Axis Framework

Year

We start by stating that health is a fundamental human right and access to comprehensive, quality, and timely care must be guaranteed to all people, without any discrimination, according to need and respecting the beliefs and choices of each person.

This care can be provided from different perspectives, concepts, and interventions, freely chosen by people, requiring these therapies to show effectiveness and not cause more harm than they intend to repair.

“At first sight, it gives the impression that, when the human being or even their ancestors arrived to a blind alley, it happened as though an aura of enlightenment had come down from heaven… and suddenly unexpected solutions were found.”
